Subject: RE: Personal experience from traffic stops

WCMO-SWMO Area
When I was some younger I was a speed demon and I have probably been stopped 10-12 plus times...Believe it or not I only ended up with 3 tickets which I deserved...The others were all warnings because of the following reasons..In this time period I probably deserved 100's of tickets....Now I just drive 71 mph on the 4 lane and everyone passes me.

I immediately pull over..I keep all of my needed papers close at hand and have them laying on the dash before I even come to a stop....I have my window rolled down...My hands are on the steering wheel..I only speak when spoken to....I'm not mouthy and dont deny that I was speeding-etc...

Most of my traffic stops have been made by either the Missouri or Kansas Highway Patrol..They have all been professional and several were almost apologetic..The last one about 15 years ago was one of the best and it was just a few miles from my house..I was going 8 mph over on a blacktop road...He told me that he was fully prepared to write me a ticket and he explained to me why he didnt..First he said that you immediately pulled over when lots dont..Second he said that you were 100% ready for him when lots cant even find the needed papers..Third he said that you only spoke when spoken to and admitted that you were speeding...He said that the first thing he often hears is why the blank did you stop me because I wasnt speeding-etc...He said a good attitude will usually just get you a warning and a bad one will get you a ticket.

The only time I was ever stopped in a city was for excessive noise...I was only stopped twice by a sheriffs deputy...One was in Kansas for only having one plate on a farm pickup...I told him that Missouri only issues one plate and he finally let it go....The other was in Minnesota for going 23 over and he reduced it down to the minimum fine.
