Subject: RE: Why the attack on new seed companies?

Most of us on this board have been doing this for a while and have been talked into trying a hybrid that ended up being a dud. I’m not saying your hybrids are or aren’t the real deal but every company has statistics and yield data. I was recently at FPS. All the seed companies have data showing their hybrids are in the top 20% +\-. I don’t have a PHD in statistics but not all companies can be the best. I didn’t find one company indicating that their hybrids were in the bottom 20%. It’s kinda like the statistics that 90% of drivers rate themselves above average. It’s not statistically possible.

It sounds like you have a good mission. However, there are other people in the seed industry that care about their customers. Stats on retention speak volumes about who is treating the customer right.

Even the big brands have a hard time selling to a new customer. A new small company has an even more hurdles to overcome to get on a new farm. Your customer pays for food, health insurance, college tuition etc with the money they make selling corn. Being able to consistently provide for their family is more important than trying something new and unproven. Thus if you do convince someone to take a look, it will likely be on a very low percentage of their acres until they have a few seasons of success.

I wish you the best but it is going to take time.
