Brazil has 1.63 million cars running on up to 100% ethanol.
But they do also have excellent mechanics.
Posted this before but my old vo-tech instructor I think it was, said if you'd design an engine to run strictly on ethanol it would be more economical and more power than same engine running on gas. Our engines are designed to run on gas so compression and oxygen ratios aren't ideal for ethanol. Why fuel economy isn't as good as when on gas. He said the ethanol cleaned the accumulated "gunk" out of the fuel system, why it could cause problems. In my opinion the main reason ethanol gets a bad rap is the oil companies have done a pretty good job of vilify it. |
