Malta, Illinois | Exactly!! Anyone who was around in the 70's and 80's knows we taught them to farm. My dad had a neighbor friend who went on a tour with an ag group to South America in the 1970's. His comment when he came home was that if they ever discovered or adopted the wide us of nitrogen for raising corn the United States would have some real competition. We provided them with much of what they needed to become our biggest competitor. Would they have eventually figured it out without our help? Most likely but it really wasn't in our best interest to help them as much as we did. I'm just using the nitrogen for corn as an example. There were many other things from researchers and from universities that shed light on soybean diseases and best practices for raising soybeans in that climate. | |
