I see there's an online rent auction on a short 160 acres and it's over 400 dollars an acre(on a 3 year commitment) with about a week left to go on the auction. My guess it will go 450-475 before it's all over with.
People must not be tired of working for free yet. It's going to take an awful lot of 9-9.75 cash soybeans just to pay the rent. Plugging that into a spreadsheet with full honest costs, boy that sure looks bad.
It's going to take an awful lot of financial pain before things correct in a way that makes the farmer not bid to beyond razor thin margins.
