Pittsburg, Kansas | Frosty Rootbeer and Mountain Dew were my favorites when I was in grade school. And if neither one of those were available Pepsi was my fall back drink. No wonder I ended up diabetic by 30.
Only reason I found out I was diabetic, being a newly wed with a new wife and three small children I figured I should have life insurance to protect them in case something happened to me. Part of the application for life insurance was a medical checkup by a nurse that visited at our house. She drew blood. A week later got a call and with a suggestion of going to my family doctor to get checked out because my blood sugar was high. Had never had it checked before. That was the beginning of the long diabetic journey starting over 40 years ago.
Of course it meant my life insurance premium rates were higher than originally quoted. :-(
