NE Nebraska | Quickbooks began offering Desktop via subscription only beginning with the 2022 releases. Any of the older versions will not have online access such as bank feeds, payroll services, etc.
Intuit also made the decision that after Sept. 30, 2024, it will no longer be selling new subscriptions to U.S. subscribers of the following products: QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus; QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus; QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus;
and QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll. So if you didn't have a prior "subscription" I don't think you can get one now.
I currently use Desktop Pro Plus with Payroll and it will run around $2100 for the year 2025. I've done the subscription method for several years and this year it took it's biggest price jump. I called in a couple days ago to see if switching to Enterprise would be cost beneficial. It really wasn't and I'm not reaching the data limits so I'll stay where I'm at. But I asked, and was told that if I ever stop my subscription I get one year of "read only" data and after that I would lose complete access so a person would need to print off or save the data in excel or other files. I'm not happy about that part as it seems they are holding us hostage to the subscriptions. Pilfering through Excel files for old data would be awful. But I also asked our tax person if there were a better accounting alternative for us and she said that QB Desktop is probably our most effective option that services us best. | |
