My FIL has basically went blind in the last 5 years. He is 90 now. Macular degeneration. He can see shapes. For example he might be able to see a person from the house across the yard and be able to tell it was a person rather than a dog or cow, but could never make out who the person is. I would say he would meet the definition of legally blind, although believe it or not he still gets on his 25 hp JD little Diesel tractor (790 I think) and drives to the neighbors on a gravel road. He can keep it between the ditches.

I am hoping to avoid that. I'm 70 now.
