It is a lot easier to, 1) Bale off the sod next Spring, 2) Notil soybeans into the sod, 3) Use roundup to terminate the sod. Sounds like maybe it is too late for this option? If so, the cultimulcher is a second option. Maybe it should be used immediately after planting?
