I've got family that is visiting my home next week with a good sized dog.   I don't allow pets in my house.   The dog can stay in the garage,  tied up outside or spend the week penned in kennel, in our unfinished basement.    I feel for the dog.   To go outside this big dog will have to be on a leash since he has no idea where shelter is.   There are farm cats he might like to chase.    He belongs to a college student.   ( How does a college student afford a dog?)  How many times in the next few years will this dog have to move and get accustomed to another new place.

You're way too accommodating.

Sounds like the college student is beyond dumb.    That probably sounds harsh but IMO, NO ONE should even begin thinking about having a pet larger than a goldfish until they own their own home and have a stable full time job.
