Roseglen, North Dakota | Got involved in an online discussion with a group of farmer bashers/haters and how they take up the whole road with their machinery, are overweight, oversize, don't pay road tax fuel in their machinery, etc.
Years ago I worked for beet farmers at Breckenridege so somewhat familiar with general rules. But need a brushing up.
1. Can a farmer hire a driver without a CDL if operation is hauling less than 150 miles from home base?
2. Many types of hauling rigs used.
Are they required to abide by weight limits on paved roads?
How about gravel township/county roads?
3. Where does money come from to repair rut damage/regravel roads that get damaged in wet years?
4. Does John Law still occasionally "dip tanks" at the pilers or any other place?
I'm pro farmer, of course, but want to be able to answer the accusations accurately.
