Subject: RE: I am having trouble keeping up

North Central Indiana
I am a beginning and small farmer so I guess I’m qualified to give the opinion I did. Pork means junk that is in no way related to the purpose of the bill. Like a border bill with Ukraine money in it, or a USDA funding bill with a congressional pay raise in it. Or any number of other bills that our congress tries to pass. It’s all just a mess. Just the other day they said that there’s going to be a bill mandating federal employees work from the office again instead of from home, and I’m thinking “well that’s pretty f-ing rich coming from congressmen that haven’t passed a farm bill or a budget and get a few “recesses” each year and tried to shove a new pay raise in one of the budget bills they’ve continually failed to get passed. Thats the pork I’m talking about. And yes, I’m fine with an “economic” subsidy from the government. Sure everyone gets it and the big guys will pass it on to landlords or piss it away on a truck, I don’t care. I could use the money for this 10,000/ac land I’m beginning to farm with. It’s been building all this time, if we intentionally pop the bubble there’s going to be a lot of guys get screwed and it won’t be the big farms that you apparently think. It’ll be me, a beginning farmer, trying to choke down massive expenses that came from government subsidies for years without the benefit of a subsidy for myself. I’ll never understand the practical application of this argument. I understand the theory, and I like it but the real world application would look nothing like the explosion of small farmers and the 1950s coming back. It would lead to corporate farms everywhere. I posted about the economics of it the other day. I’m not going to run through it again
