If there is weed pressure within the rye a 2-4D pass will keep them at bay until later(spray the rye later at 30+ inches tall and that is the season). Can also spray something like valor with it and ding but not kill the rye. As long as you have good seed to soil contact for the soybeans to establish and start the cover getting bigger is fine. The only time I’ve had an issue was 2 years ago when the rye used up too much moisture early in a notill setting. The places I strip tilled did not have the same issue. This was without row cleaner, with an aggressive setup the notill might have been okay as well.
