Tom as always I thank you. It's a lot of work that you do, I'm it, so its very hard to do any testing when I'm lucky just to get crop in the ground. That's why I ask every year what may or may not have worked that year and to see if guys are seeing a pattern. I swear its hard for me to do the same thing every year as to learning some thing maybe a bit different. I know this is bought up a lot about covers not paying for themselves year in and year out but I know that keeping my soil where it needs to be is pretty high on my list. Then you add in a bunch of other stuff and for me and my ground its working. I have found that 40-45lbs of cereal rye spread is plenty. Especially for corn, beans that rate works good for me also, mine is just spread with fert. cart, nothing else as I only spread fert. in the spring. I see what you said about rye being 15" or less, here it takes nothing and it's way taller, so looking at spraying 24-D and a residual ahead of both corn and beans next year to help slow down the rye.
