I grew up drinking what they'd call raw milk today. Skim milk of course as it was put through a cream separator. Just a cloth filter to take out bits of straw, manure, and whatever detritus got into it during the hand milking process. I can't say that it did us any harm or delivered any great health benefits. It was just the way things were done. Nobody questioned it.
