I grew up on a small dairy farm.  Cow milk was held in a bulk tank until it was picked up. We would take a dipper and get milk out of the bulk tank for our family's consumption.  This was unpasteurized.  Basically straight from the cow.  When people talk about "raw milk", I presume this is what they are referring to.

We never had trouble drinking that milk from the bulk tank.  Raw milk. Having said that, I now buy milk from the grocery store or convenience store that is pasteurized and homogenized.  I do not advocate drinking raw milk, but I don't tell anyone not to either.  I guess, to me, it is a personal decision.
