If you can’t get regular milk from the store to last more than 7 days, first check your refrigerator temp. If it’s below 40, try milk from another store or take an ice chest to town to get it home without it warming up. The employees of the store may be regularly leaving pallets of milk out to warm up as part of their warehousing and stocking process.

The “use by” date on a jug of milk is usually a pretty good guide. It’s not mandated by law or regulation to be any certain number, it’s put on there by the bottling plant. It’s a number that results from their data about how their milk is lasting. If yours isn’t lasting, check the things above.
