I have thermostat set at 55 for ground floor and about 45 for upper floor on the old farm house. Put sheet of foam board on the stair well to reduce heat loss to the upstairs (poor if any insulation).

Also, remote temperature sensors to notify if things go south.

Made it through last winter w/o any propane refill. It was mild so will see about this year.
