A well run cage free operation can blow can out compete a cage operation when it comes to feed efficiency and is really close on overall efficiency. Feed price can fluctuate and change those numbers. Cage free chickens will consume less feed per dozen eggs produced if properly managed. The building/equipment costs cost more on a cage free operation.
