When I used to feed Holstein bottle calves up to feeder steers (started on the bottle, and usually sold them between #600-#1000), and they were off of the bagged "textured" ration, I fed them whole corn mixed with everything else. On full feed, in a big husky hog feeder. :) IIRC while mixing, I put the corn in first, then the pellets, or else the whole corn would turn the pellets to dust in the mixer.
