I have a Westfield 6"X36' that runs on a 3 HP all day long no problem (wheat and millet). I also have a 30'X6" that runs on a VFD but only at half speed. That takes a 2 HP and is a pinch underpowered.

I'd say you will be drowning in excessive power with a 5 HP.

We have an 8x31 that gets along just fine at 5hp. The same motor would be way more than ample on a 6”.



I would agree but a pit. Makes me think auger might be 60-70 degrees from ground. If wet corn, really fast.
