Roseglen, North Dakota | Food for thought. "Here" eggs are as high as they've ever been.
5.85 for extra large dozen last night in the store.
I said something to the clerk, thinking it was a short time thing. She said it's "cage free eggs."
So this post comes up and I thot, Well now I'm going to learn something.
Wrong again.
Cages are good
Cages are bad
Chickens don't do good when crowded
Chickens do better when everything is controlled.
It will cost more to build bigger barns
If cage free you can find 20 pecked to death instead of 3 out of 4
It's California's fault
So I learned nothing. Except it sounds like $6 eggs will be the norm and they will get higher yet.
And 1 more thing. The eggs are going to cost more. Forever probably.
BUT the producer probably won't net a penny more. Isn't that familiar?
