The biggest impact on hours is the setting determing hours on after shutdown. If a receiver is set to 12 or 24 hours (could be off or as low as 3 hours), the receiver will remain powered on for 12 or 24 hours after key off. This racks up hours at a much faster pace. The default value tends to be 6 hours, but many folks set them to 24 hours.
StarFire receivers on base stations will typically have 20-30,000+ hrs as they are generally powered on 24/7/365
