ncia | I use 4-5 gallons 10-34-0 in furrow. At that rate and our soils we never have seedling burn.
I started using it in the mid 90s on the advice of an agronomist one of my landlords listened to.
I take that small amount of phosphorus into account as part of my total fertility.
I use a system installed by L&D ag from hartland minnesota. It uses a ground drive piston pump that has proven to be reliable and extremely accurate. My first system used keetons in furrow . I wasn’t completely satisfied with that aspect and have since used an in furrow tube manufactured by L&D that is similar to the “totally tubular” component.
I just purchased my starter for next year at $550/ton. I'll do the per gallon and per acre math if you want.
I really cannot tell you that it is a profitable practice. I can definitely see if I run out or have a row plug.
The liquid system has been a convenient way to deliver insecticide and that will get better as newer insecticide formulation are developed.
I don’t have a dream set up but this is a significant aspect of L&D business and they do it very well. If I get another planter I’d get this part from them. | |
