Subject: RE: SDSU precision ag major ?

North Central Iowa
There are several precision ag programs in the upper Midwest including the one I teach/run at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. SDSU has a top notch program and have had several of my students transfer there after getting their 2 year Associate of Applied Science Precision Ag degree here. Most of my students graduate with their 2 year degree and go right into the industry and be successful. I have students that are now precision ag techs with John Deere, Case-IH, New Holland, and AGCO equipment dealers. Others have gone on to work for or own their own precision ag company that deals with Ag Leader, Trimble, Precision Planting, etc. I have had several other students that are doing more of the data/software side of things where they're making recommendations, processing data, prescriptions, and/or drone flying.

There are careers out there for any student that has some precision ag knowledge and skills. Right now there are about 5-6 people wanting to hire a student for every student we have so the demand is there. And where they could end up is limitless and will continue to grow as precision ag becomes more prominent in the ag industry. Several years ago I had a large John Deere dealership in the Southern US that wanted to hire 3 of my students that year. I even had a student over in Germany this fall on an internship there with a New Holland dealership and they paid for his housing, gave him a vehicle, and even paid him a wage on top of that...which more than covered his airfare to fly over and back.

Hope this helps and feel free to reach out to me for more information and would be glad to answer any more questions. My email address is my profile information.
