Sadly this is the reality. There is a lot of risk involved for both parties. Is the funds good? Is the equipment lien free? Are you dealing with the seller or a third party? A scammer (on either side)?
ETA: Nowadays a check can get processed almost instantly. Nothing like getting a call on way home with purchased item, that funds are insufficient because you haven’t transferred the money yet…..
