I bought equipment from somebody with a good reputation. Part of the deal was he delivered. I wrote a check for half, the other half to be paid on delivery. First half cleared, week or 2 later he delivered, I paid 2nd half. It worked well for both of us. I don't know how I would have done it not knowing the guy, other than pay with a cashiers check, upon personal inspection and bill of sale at the site.
