East Central, Nebraska | i used to own all trimble guidance products and then went over to ag leader for numerous years. have gotten along fine with ag leader and now do all my data management through ag leader sms. have 15-20 or better years of data there. i think i am fairly well versed in getting around in sms. recently a year ago or so i bought a fully unlocked tmx2050 and have been using it for my strip till mostly as i wanted to utilize true guide because i did not feel as if my strip till machine was tracking properly. it has been working great. here is my problem...
i am failing to wrap my head around how to manage guidance lines and data in the trimble display. for instance i had been doing an export in sms of the farm/fields and with that exporting guidance lines from the selected years in the device setup. it has been working fairly well. yesterday i went in and noticed i did not have a guidance line copied over for a particular large field with numerous guidances lines. i simply selected the line in sms, did a right click and exported it as a shape file and though the line was on there now, it appeared to blow away every other guidance line for that field. whenever i transfer anything on a usb i clear the contents of the usb before doing so as i am unsure what copies again and what does not, i am worried about duplicates and so on. i am really unsure how to properly manage the lines. can anyone shed any information on how i should be doing this. is it possible to just add a line? how would one go about exporting it out of sms just so it adds the one line and retains the rest. i guess i am feeling wreckless on how i am doing it now. i don't really ever plan on taking any of the data out of the display and pulling it into sms, my only goal is to add the proper guidance lines and retain them. all other roles of the strip till machine are handled with an ag leader display.
i might also add, this is all through the fmx plus app on the display, as i understand it i have to use that because of the trueguide.
