In this case, I would suggest trucker calls you to say the equipment is there and ready to load, then having it per-arranged - call your bank and wire the funds to his bank. Talk to the seller in advance and have the wire transfer info ready and both of you talk to your bankers so they are prepared to do the transfer. might cost $20 for the wire - but the funds are moved at that moment and verifiable by his bank.
This works, sort of. There is a delay of several hours in the wire process depending on what banks are involved. It can make the seller nervous to watch his equipment drive away and have the bank say it's not here yet.
I bought my current airplane this way. I looked, flew it, finalized the deal and we had prearranged with the wire transfer. I left for home with my truck with a friend of mine flying my new plane home for me. Within an hour he was screaming at me on the phone threatening to call the sheriff because the money wasn't there yet and thought I had stolen his airplane. Sigh... I called my bank and told her the money isn't there yet. She was apologetic as she had a house closing take much longer than planned and that it would transfer. I called the plane seller and he thought transfers were instant. They are definitely not. By later that day his money had arrived, but I sure got to see an ugly side of that guy until it did.
