Subject: RE: Farmers fighting farmers

This is a tangential rant
But

Farmers shouldn’t be getting mad at former farmers turned land owners. That’s the end goal for most farmers isn’t it? To own land and rent it to a younger generation when your back finally goes out?

No. The real anger should be directed at fertilizer companies price gouging. It should be directed at seed companies charging exuberant prices for seed and then not allowing you to keep and grow the seed you harvested. It should be directed at John Deere’s constant horsepower inflation and lifetime subscription services.

It should be directed at the market makers and their mandate to keep volatility low, although that also keeps prices held up some, ultimately it keeps a lot of farmers one step from the poor house. Perhaps if we let the price completely tank occasionally we’d see higher prices when it does come roaring back and perhaps we’d be able to have less competition because struggling farmers cant compete when there’s an absolute wipeout on prices.

A guy on here was saying how much easier it to farm now thanks to gmo and spraying and what not.

But it’s not like there’s much of a choice here, you either plant gmo or you get drifted on and wiped out.

Maybe if we didn’t have all this gmo, had more field cultivation and weren’t fumigating our land with a chemical pass every five minutes and it became difficult to farm 10000 acres, maybe the margins would come back, and we might even see less cancer rates.

There’s so many things to bitch about where farmers actually don’t have any other option.

My dad says first thing bankers do is start trying to gnaw down on rent. Blaming the rent for all the farmer troubles. But that’s because the land lord is the only one thing that’s not run by a corporation and can be attacked.

Banks. Corpo
Machinery. Corpo
Seed. Corpo
Fertilizer. Corpo

The money in farming should go to the farmers, not these lobbying corpo anti American price gouging soft handed d-bags.

your dad is correct about the banker complaining about rent price. first thing they bring up
