SOIL | This kind of tech has always been interesting and something I would like to build for myself at some point, but my fleet is already completely outfitted with either Deere or Case. Plus, during planting and harvest seasons, things are moving so fast and even an hour of down time would cost me way too much that I figure I can't afford to try and operate something like this just to save a few grand.
I do like to see new startups and competition forming. You never know what could come from this in 10 years that will be the next Must Have!! Also, I don't view this as someone is trying to monetize on someone else code as long as it's properly sourced and credited. After all, Apple's iOS, MacOS, Google Android, Deere Displays, Trimble Displays, likely Ag Leader, the TV in my house, Ross Broadcast Video, Midas Audio, and other technologies I come in contact with on a frequent basis ultimately have, at their very core, someone else's Linux code. | |
