every newer round baler i had ever ran had a bale size indicator, i would assume the variation in that amount in correlation to gps points being made as they are recorded would output a yield map for a baler.
but i would agree with you in saying use of 'health' imagery may be the best route to take. when i set back and think about it, im not sure how often, or if much of ever. that i sit down with a yield map to make soil sampling points. yield maps typically represent your success but don't shine a real good light on your flaws.
