I teach 1 day each semester at SDSU for a mapping class on the drainage design portion of GK Technology Inc. Ag Data Mapping Solution. Pretty hard to condense a 6 hour training into 1.5 hours. They do get to see the highlights, but that is about it. The one thing to keep in mind about college is they are going to teach the basics and then it is on the employer to teach them what they need to know for the job. The degree shows the potential employer that they are trainable and have a general understanding of the industry. If your grandson wants a 4 year degree it is an excellent program. There are also several excellent 2 years schools that I work with.

I have numerous Precision ag/Agronomy SDSU grads as clients. They work for coops, fertilizer retailers or are independent crop consultants.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Paul. If there was an interest, this would be the type of program I would encourage my kids to go into to get a broad exposure before diving into the specifics of a certain job.
