The later tractors are identical,
From the front weight to the hitch pin.
Except for the HP setting.
The early ones have a smaller engine in the 8300 verses the 8400.



Not entirely true. The 8400 has a longer oil fill neck and thus holds more engine oil (dipstick is the same). Fairly certain some internal components of the engine are a little stouter on the 84s, pistons for one.
