Wisconsin | if you can dip the ends in oil any of it will last better, the ends and joints where they are fastened to the post is what rots out first. If you're using 2x6, it would be best not as the piece that gets the most abuse, so a pipe or Oak in "corner" then 2x6 treated elsewhere. Makes a big difference if it's #1 southern yellow pine, vs common, or spruce pine fir.
The wood won't hurt them, they used to add enough arsenic to feed that was way more than they'd ever get from treated lumber.
