NW MN | Some answers miss on the cable (coaxial) and think it is solely for TV.
My house was serviced by an internet service provider that used coaxial cable (TV cable) for its internet into the homes. This house was built in the early 1900s so it was an obvious add-on like the crappy run it outside the vinyl siding to the 2nd floor.
My new house built in 2015 has the same coaxial distribution built into it. They ran ethernet through the house as well. The ethernet is non-finished and my guess is it is behind the coaxial face plates if I wanted to have some hard wired locations. The internet service provider used coaxial for internet to houses at this new place. When I switched companies I got put on fiber which is a nice change. | |
