received a large check last week. went to bank to deposit, as banking app will not take a check this large. Bank teller informs me that only 30% of the check will be available immediately. Not ideal. guess ill have to factor that in when contracting crops from now on. It seems this is a thing among both banks and credit unions now. Claim that it is to protect from check fraud. I always thought banks could verify checks immediately these days?

Not all banks are that way. I ach most of mine now days. But viterra doesn't want to ach. Viterra is owned by Bunge. (Bean sales)I was draining my accounts in dec 2023. Just like I always do. Got my checks Jan 1 then found out a check that size wouldn't see any money for 30 days. Thank goodness I had plenty coming ach from corn. I told the bank my issue with that process. She said it was for my own good. That's total bs. I told her I was going to move all of my money and accounts. She just laughed and said every bank does this. Well that's a lie. I put them threw the ringer, and they fought me tooth and nail. Took me 3 months but I got all of my money and investments moved. Now I can cash whatever I want to from respectable businesses.
