Gasket degrades and gives bacteria a place to hide. Then your bacteria counts get high and you lose quality bonus and your milk buyer is not happy.

You mention DHI, so you will need to find meters or jars that are ICAR approved for weight accuracy. In my old parlor, we just had the DHI tech bring their own meters once a month. I think they were made by Tru-Test or Waikato.
