I was pulling a fertilizer spreader in a pasture once using the pin that was attached to the spreader. They had made the hitch pin by butt welding a piece of shaft to a square piece of strap iron. Of course the weld wore out and let go on a nice steep hill. I made them come out and get me hooked back up again.
Is it safe to weld up a hitch pin?
