Pulled a 34' RMX disk with a very healthy stock 8230 Deere for a few weeks a few sprigs ago. She was a very stout tractor but came to the farm that way when it was new. Actually my favorite tractor to run of all the ones I've ran. It would hang with the 8310R's pulling the same disks in the same fields.
Now, I wouldn't want to pull that tractor and disk combo forever. A 30ish feet wide disk would have been a better long term match for it or a 8300 size machine. But then again we pulled 40' field cultivators with 4840's when I was a kid so..
There will be folks who think this is crazy and untrue but I pulled a 32’ 490 on 9” spacing, with my 4840. It actually pulled it damn good in 4th. Is it a stock 180hp,………. well, I don’t know cause I’ve never had the pump off but it surprised the hell out of me when it did it. |
