Yes, PEX is rated for compressed gasses. You have to check the pressure rating from the manufacturer or stamped on the tube itself. Ratings varry by size and formulation/manufacturer. Also check the flow ratings. One can typically use a smaller size (ID) than with other materials because of reduced flow resistance. If yoiu plumb valves into the main distribution system, make sure that you use "full port" valves to avoid losing that advantage.
