Subject: Not trying to step on any toes here but...

I'm not trying to step on any toes here but... around here a 6000 series JD is commonly seen as a "Poor-Man's 7000." For their size class, for their targeted market, they're perfectly ok machines. It's a little bit lighter, smaller, weaker, and yes, cheaper. It's a 7000SF with all the numbers reduced. I think you'd get more beef going to a 7220, and even more going to a 7210 in most areas.

My neighbor traded in a 7210/740 on a 6420/IVT/loader and although he loves the IVT and parts of the tractor, he was crying (not literally) for months about wanting his 7210 back.

Pretty much everything on a 6420 is an improvement over a 6410 except for perhaps a slightly smaller cab. Even simple things such as the 1-piece flip up hood on the 20 series, vs removable panels on all 10 series tractors. It's hard for me to say as I haven't actually spent any time on a 6000 series, only 7010, 7020, and 7030 models. So I'll talk from the closest of what I have run, a comparison between a 7410/PQ/740 to a 7520/IVT/741. The 741 is a huge improvement over the 740, and I wouldn't touch a 640 or 740 loader again, mind you, probably not a 741 either so scratch that.

6420 offers IVT and the electronic joystick, neither of which are available on the 6410, servicing is easier, turning radius is probably better.

If you're looking for lighter-duty chore/loader tractor then a 6420 should due just fine. Out of all the ones you listed, my pick would be a 7220/IVT/741 loader.

The 7520 was nice, but once you got over the "shiny new toy" effect, it really wasn't all that impressive.
