Our sow unit has a pto driven 65KW and it is barely enough. That 99.999% that the power is on didn't help us from Sat night till Tuesday afternoon, that is why we have generators around. A generator would look pretty cheap if we lost a bunch of pigs.
I am suprised on the price you were quoted. I was told that the automatic transfer switch alone was $10,000.
