sw corner ia. | actually, the 6620 TII was the only one of the green tops that had the shoe sped up, which quickly destroyed it. A freind of mine has a 7720 II and the shoe gears are the same part #s as the older yellow tops.
7720 can handle just about any head you can get on it. 6620 will have less total capacity, but for 150 acres, will run cheaper, if that is your goal. Be aware the 6620's all had recurring final drive failures, and gasket blowouts which causes you to lose all your gear oil. I found the shoe to be quite a limitation in heavy beans, but not in corn. Go figure. 83 and newer models of both had the wonderful heavy duty rear axle which never gave me a minutes trouble. Grain tank will crack out around the inlet of the vertical unloader after a lot of bushels go through it, same for the bottom of the feeder house. Countershaft bearings behind the seat will go out at around 2000 hrs, only real major hard fix. Hydro's aren't real strong and don't always last.
