We always fold the auger in. It supports it better when bouncing across the field and keeps from hitting things with it. Our first experience with a cart was borrowing a rice cart from my uncle. The auger did not fold. Fortunately the auger on a 750 MF has a little bitty rod on the cylinder that breaks when you hit something, sparing damage to the auger.
