The local pricing schedule for corn silage is set up this way,
Date of harvest, local shelled corn price(Martin's Elevator, quote, Hagerstown,Md) times 8 buyer pays for ALL harvest expenses.
$4/bu shelled corn X 8 = $32/ton "standing price",
10 tons silage per acre @ $32/ton= $320/acre
50 bu shell corn per acre @ $4/bu = $200/acre YOU buy the harvest and transport costs.
P & K removal will be much higher in silage chopping and there will be a NOTICABLE loss of O.M.
