Subject: RE: Corn silage pricing

Recently I was on the Penn State website - dairy science dept, I believe - and I found a document with feedstuffs and suggest values. Maybe you can find it..... or maybe I can go looking for it again.
They had corn silage listed at $36.30/Ton on an "as fed' basis.

try this. Go to the center of the page and look for the "featured document".

Remember, pricing is all about an agreement between what a seller and a buyer are willing to come to terms on.  However, this should give you some kind of a basis to get you in the ballpark.  P.S.  be sure to read carefully. There are several "Corn silages" listed - be sure to get the right one.

Also, as I read your post again, I read that you are selling out of the field. I presume the prices listed in the PSU document are based on harvesting being borne by the seller. If the customer is paying the harvesting, I would discount from there. I presume you understand that. You may want to find custom harvesting rates to help get a true picture on that, and factor those costs into your equation.
