Devils Lake, ND
Taking 24" samples (for nitrogen) is a common practice in the northern plains. A GOOD inverter and a GOOD 3/8" drill works, but it is slow. They sell auger bits specifically for this purpose. The $3,000+ in-cab hydraulic probe is a great setup if you plan in doing this professionally. Two thousand acres is a decent day.
