Thumb of Michigan | I'm not spraying aphids at similar numbers to yours. Yet, anyway. 6 years ago, we had explosive populations, but then we weren't scouting for them then either. 4 years ago, we were more prepared, but I sprayed sooner than 250/ plant. When they start infesting the stems, its time to go. 2 years ago was pretty odd, we sprayed over a 4 week period. They seemed very slow to get to anywhere near threshold. I was sure last friday that I'd have to spray a field today, but this morning there were less aphids than friday. Couldn't find any across the road friday to speak of, will probably spray that field this week. Also getting more bean beetles than I like, may have to go based on those instead of aphids.
Local supplier pulled the trigger too quickly 2 years ago, had to respray most fields. Second go around had more aphids than the first time. You don't want to make that mistake if you can help it. | |
