Ashburn, GA, (very close to Heaven!) | I don't know how much y'all have used that stuff in the past, but I see the same. The stalk becomes a rust red, with the leaves showing some. THEN, the leaves seem to become a deeper green as the plant grows out of the MSMA effects. It almost seems that once it's out of the MSMA, it becomes vegetative again, almost compensating for the delayed growth for a few weeks after MSMA. Compared to mepiquat, it's more of a "growth delay/restrictor" product where mepiquat is a growth regulator product. Mep will continue to add nodes and fruit, where MSMA delays things. As cheap as mep has become, and with so much 555 being grown over here, we use lots and lots of it now; I have fields with 50 ounces per acre on them year to date, about four total applications, but usually average about 32 over the season. Oh, BTW, MSMA is not labeled on post bloom cotton. |
